Talk About Public Art and Commerce, Open House at NHTI Today

5 Things you need to know for April 10, 2013.

  1. Another wet morning? Maybe, maybe not. The National Weather Service says there’s a 30 percent chance of rain in the morning before noon with clouds continuing into the day, highs in the low 60s. Rain is likely in the evening and overnight hours, highs in the 30s.
  2. Lunch and artist entrepreneurs. Public Art: Community, Participation & Commerce is the topic of a lunchtime workshop at the Kimball-Jenkins Estate from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring a brown bag lunch and enjoy conversation with Adam Blue, the director of Education at the AVA Gallery. Also, art classes start at the school next week too.
  3. Open House at NHTI. , holds an open house at 5 p.m. in the Crocker Wellness Center Gym. Find out about all the programs the school offers. The event is free and open to the public.
  4. Folk music. The Walker Lecture Series continues at 7:30 p.m. at the Concord City Auditorium, featuring Aubrey Atwater and Elwood Donnelly performing traditional American folk and Celtic music and percussive dance. As with all Walker events, it’s free and open to the public.
  5. Other stuff. The Concord Public Library has family story time at 10:30 a.m. Paws for Pages is held at 3:30 p.m. and then, over at the Penacook Branch, the knitting club meets at 6:30 p.m. John Franzosa plays Hermanos at 6:30 p.m. The Sacred Belly, Women’s Healing Dance is held at 7 p.m. at Wonder Made. The Concord Community Music School holds a student recital at 7 p.m. Trivia time is held at The Barley House at 8 p.m.
