Teen Arrested for Criminal Mischief, Protective Order Violations

Concord, Dunbarton police charge Jacob Habets after alleged incidents.

A local teen is facing a number of charges after allegedly committing crimes in both Concord and Dunbarton.

Jacob Tyler Habets, 18, of Ordway Road in Dunbarton, was arrested on 7:50 p.m. on Jan. 5, 2015, on two counts of violation of a protective order, as well as criminal mischief and obstructing the report of a crime charges and a warrant.

According to a Concord Police arrest reports and court documents, Dunbarton Police were called to a home Ordway Road for a 911 hang up call on Jan. 2.

About two minutes later, another 911 call came in with a woman reporting that her son, Habets, was allegedly “out of control” and had friends at the house. Police noted that there had been problems at the house in the past.

When they arrived, the woman stated that she was feeling ill that day and was trying to get access to the bathroom of the home but he was inside. Later, she was able to get into the bathroom and then Habets allegedly punched a hole in the door. Officers reported seeing the hole in the door, about chest high, with the hit pushing from the outside in.

Two of Habets’ friends stated they heard yelling and then a bang but didn’t see anything.

While on the phone trying to get a ride, an officer reportedly overheard Habets admitting that he got upset with his mom and punched a hole in the door. An emergency restraining order was then issued against Habets.

The next day, an officer followed up with the woman who alleged that on the night in question, Habets had removed the cable from a phone line while she was calling 911, because he didn’t want her talking to police. Habets allegedly screamed at her using derogatory terms about the female anatomy, according to the report. The officer noted that it was consistent with the hang up of the phone during the first call.

On Jan. 5, a temporary restraining order was issued against Habets.

Later that day, the woman met with Concord Police about an alleged violation earlier in the day in Concord.

According to the court affidavit, while in court getting the temporary restraining order, Habets allegedly texted her stating, “I’m sorry …” and then another text stating, “I’m so sorry.”

The woman returned to work and at about 1:15 p.m., she received a phone call from a number she didn’t recognize. When she answered the phone though, it was allegedly Habets.

“She said that he said something to the effect of ‘Mom did you cancel my phone?,’” according to the report. “(The woman) said she told him, ‘You can’t call me, you’ll get in trouble’ and hung up the phone as she did not want to speak with Habets, and further knew he should not be calling due to the order.”

Habets was arrested by Concord Police and held without bail. He was arraigned on Jan. 6.

Dunbarton Police also began an investigation into a previous criminal mischief complaint from Dec. 2, 2014, involving a broken mirror and a hole in another door.
