Teen Busted with Syringes In His Butt

Concord Police: Jesse Collins arrested on drug, driving charges.

A local teen is facing a slew of charges after an expired inspection sticker led to a traffic stop.

Jesse Abel Collins, 19, of Concord, was arrested at 5:40 p.m. on April 11, and charged with possession of drugs, possession of controlled drugs, disobeying an officer, and driving after revocation or suspension.

According to a Concord Police arrest report and court affidavit, an officer was parked on North Main Street across from Franklin when a 1999 Ford Escort drove by with an expired inspection sticker. The officer put the cruiser’s emergency lights on and tried to pull the vehicle over, which was heading north on North Main Street. The car turned onto I-393 and then took I-93 and eventually pulled over.

The officer spoke to the driver who stated that the car belonged to a friend and he was unaware of the inspection problem. He was “nervously restless, shaky and avoiding eye contact with me,” the officer alleged. The officer also allegedly smelled marijuana coming from the car.

When asked for a license and registration, the driver allegedly stated that he had neither and had left his wallet at home. The driver allegedly gave a false name and looked around the car for a registration and didn’t find it. The officer suggested he open the glove box, since that’s where most drivers store their registration paperwork. When the driver did this, the officer reportedly saw a glass smoking pipe inside and the driver found the registration.

“The operator stated that he was unaware that the pipe was in the car and advised that it wasn’t his,” the officer reported.

The officer checked the operator’s name and driving information and alleged that the name he gave didn’t match the description of the person, and the officer requested additional units to head to the scene.

While speaking with a sergeant who arrived at the stop, the driver allegedly appeared to be “fidgeting around in his seat and appeared to be looking under the front passenger seat.”

The driver was requested to step out of the car and two syringes allegedly fell from his shorts to the ground, and he was placed under arrest.

After being placed in the cruiser, the officer told the driver he knew he was lying about his identity and asked for his name again. The operator reportedly apologized for lying and said he was scared and gave his real name, Collins.

A check of Collins’ driving record revealed that he was under suspension for a DWI conviction.

Collins was transported to the police station and was reportedly fidgeting in his seat the entire time. When asked what he was doing, Collins allegedly said he was “uncomfortable.”

After arriving at the station, he was searched again and allegedly refused to spread his feet apart. The officer searched near his belt line and Collins reportedly began gripping his pants. The officer pulled Collins' hands away and “observed a plastic bag sticking out of the top of his pants, partially in the crack of his butt.” The bag contained eight syringes, according to police.

Collins was held on $8,000 cash bail and was arraigned on April 14.
