CONCORD, NH — A teen from Illinois died after driving an ATV into a tree on Pleasant Street Thursday. Concord Fire and Rescue teams and police were sent to the area across the street from The Birches at Concord at around 5:30 p.m. for a report of an ATV crash with the driver in cardiac arrest. CPR was in progress by people at the scene, according to fire dispatch.

The crash was in a field down behind a home, according to first responders.

Police dispatch, while sending officers, reported that the person "was not conscious and not breathing."

When first responders arrived, they had a little bit of difficulty reaching the crash scene since it was a bit away from the home in a field. They discovered that the ATV driver struck a tree, according to scanner chatter. About 15 minutes later, firefighters announced that they were coming out of the field with the patient.

New Hampshire Fish & Game were also called to the scene to investigate.

The New Hampshire Union Leader reported Thursday that the teen was from Chicago, Illinois, and was riding the ATV with a group of friends.

It was the second serious ATV-related injury in the state in two days. Fish & Game investigated a crash Wednesday involving a youth riding an ATV at the base of Cannon Mountain in Franconia. A 4-year-old from Vermont was injured in that crash after turning sharply. The child was not wearing a helmet at the time, according to a press statement.
