‘The Invisible War’ Showing, Networking Help, Poetry in the City
Here are 5 Things you need to know for April 17, 2013, in Concord.

- More sun, yeah! It’s been a rough couple of days with all that is going on in the world. However, the sun will return, shining warm and bright upon our faces, with highs in the low 60s. It will be a bit breezy though – expect gusts of up to 23 mph. Overnight lows drop down into the mid-30s.
- Beacon of Hope Award. The Crisis Center of Central New Hampshire celebrates 35 years with a showing of the documentary, “The Invisible War,” at Red River Theatres at 5:30 p.m. A panel will speak after the showing about a new study that will be released showing that sexual assaults in New Hampshire mirror those found in the military. The first Nancy Francoeur Beacon of Hope Award will also be presented.
- Looking for networking help? Check out this Continuing Education Program at Concord High School. Graham Gifford hosts the class at 6 p.m. Next week, Graham shows you how to build your personal brand on social network sites.
- Poetry slam. The Poetry Society of New Hampshire meets at Gibson’s Bookstore at 7 p.m. (every third Wednesday of the month). Nancy Bailey Miller and Pat Callan are the headliners and an open mic follows.
- Other stuff. It’s family story time at 10:30 a.m. at the Concord Public Library. A lecture at 6 p.m. at the New Hampshire State Library discusses Life in the Piscataqua in the 17th Century. Tim Wildman and Jock Irvine play Hermanos at 6:30 p.m. At 7 p.m., the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance meets at St. Paul’s Church at 7 p.m. The Capitol Center for the Arts hosts “Hair” at 7:30 p.m. It's trivia time at The Barley House at 8 p.m.
