The Patch Weekend Planner

A weather update for Concord plus things to do in the city.

Here is everything you need to know about this weekend:

  • Wet weekend? It looks like it is possible. Weather forecasters are calling for sunny skies on Saturday, with highs in the low 90s. But clouds begin to roll in during the late afternoon and evening, with showers and thunderstorms likely into Sunday. Temps will drop down into the 60s Saturday night. More rain is expected on Sunday, with temps in the 80s. Overnight, expect more rain and temps in the 60s.
  • Amish Country Barn. The Concord store is hosting an open house this weekend, starting at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday. A huge yard sale along with fun stuff for the kids.
  • Fish for free. Saturday is Free Fishing Day in New Hampshire. You won’t need a license to fish. Six of the state’s fish hatcheries will also be open to visitors from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Farmers’ Market opens. The Concord Farmers’ Market opens at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, on Capitol Street next to the Statehouse. And don’t forget, starting next week, another market will be open at 3 p.m. on Wednesdays at the Steeplegate Mall. A market in Penacook on Monday nights, at Rolfe Farm, will open later this summer.
  • Art for sale. The Concord Arts Market also opens on Saturday, at 9 a.m., in Bicentennial Square. Check out all the local artisans presenting their offerings.
  • Crafting group. The Immanuel Community Church hosts a free crafting group get together for adults at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Bring your own project or start one with the group.
  • 5K road race. The Over the River and Through the Woods 5K, to benefit the Concord-Merrimack County SPCA, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Northeast Delta Dental. Tickets are $15. Canned pet food donations will be also be accepted at the race.
  • Helping the homeless. Bishop Brady High School students will be playing dodgeball at St. A’s as part of a NH Coalition to End Homelessness fundraiser in Manchester at 4 p.m. on Saturday. If you’re going, please upload cool action shots of the kids on the Patch Pics & Clips site.
  • Pipe organ music. The First Church of Christ Scientist hosts a pipe organ concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, sponsored by the NH Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Jennifer McPherson and Katelyn Emerson will be performing.
