Things are getting worse, not better, in the Great Christy G.W. Bridge Scandal. And the worse things get, the more we should be paying attention to all that went on down there.
It now appears that credible evidence exists tying the Port Authority Police Department to the conspiracy to crush the Mayor of Fort Lee, New Jersey. Several witnesses are now alleging that uniformed police officers approached them near the bridge, during the days of traffic snarl, and told them that the Mayor was the person responsible for their vehicular miseries. So it looks like individual officers were part of the plan to make Fort Lee pay for the revenge demanded by Christy’s office. If that turns out to be true, we all need to worry.
Why? Because the Port Authority Police are the guys who are supposed to protect the public and the bridge when things get hairy. They’re also the officers who are supposed to protect the public at the site of 9/11 Towers, a pretty likely place for more terrorism sometime in the future. I want to know that the police providing security there are looking out for public safety, not trying to give some political opponent the shaft.

Can someone tell me when it became a good idea to politicize the police, the way that Tammany used to?
The Christy Conspirators are now pushing back against the people who are trying to figure out what happened last September. They’re fighting subpoenas, and proclaiming their 5th Amendment rights. I’m all in favor of their “taking the Fifth”, but why doesn’t some prosecutor go to court, get a warrant, and seize the computers and phones and emails of every one of the jerks that were responsible for this? We need to get to the bottom of this scandal, and if there were cops out there blaming the Mayor of Fort Lee for something that came out of Governor Christy’s office, they need to be be fired first, and notified of their rights to have a lawyer second.
