There are Two Crossfit Gyms in Concord??
Crossfit has exploded onto the fitness scene over the past two years. It is no surprise then, that Concord now sports two Crossfit Gyms.
There’s a new Crossfit Gym in town.
Three years ago I wrote my first article about Crossfit. At the time it was a new found sport for me and was just beginning to become known in main stream fitness circles. Like many fitness fads, Crossfit has exploded onto the health scene. Unlike many fitness fads, Crossfit is here to stay. It is based in solid science and meets the needs of far too many people to simply disappear. It is no surprise then that Concord now has two Crossfit choices for people in the Capital Area.
Crossfit Ironborn sits right next to the former location of White Mountain Crossfit in the Sanel Auto Park on South Main Street. Owner Jon Farwell, founder and former owner of the very successful and well established White Mountain Gym is at it again. Back to his roots and striking out on his own, once again offering top notch programming, comprehensive coaching and that wonderful sense of humor. It won’t take him long to establish Crossfit Ironborn into the health community.
As with any business just starting off, clients right now are enjoying small classes with a great deal of personal attention. Having Jon Farwell all to yourself is wonderful. It won’t last though as new folks are walking through the door every day. Jon, however has thought ahead. Employing a coaching program that creates a “coach for life” environment, Jon and other coaches Nick Poulin and Jon Fosher are currently learning, growing, and developing their own “clients for life”. This brand of Crossfit is a growing trend among several Crossfit Gyms. Lucky for Concord, it gives people looking for a fitness program another wonderful option.
I remember when Battle Crossfit opened in Epsom. I was worried that another gym would take away my teammates at WMCF. The complete opposite happened. More people found Crossfit. Unlike standard fitness centers where people exercise in isolation, reading their books or listening to their IPods, there is no parallel fitness going on in a Crossfit gym. You have classmates that very quickly become some of your closest friends. Working out is something done together and Crossfit quickly becomes a part of your identity. It is much like belonging to a sports team, or for the “non-athlete analogy” the cast of a play. Everyone supports and encourages the other. There is complete emotional safety.
It is now possible to shop for a Crossfit Gym that meets your needs. I have met several folks from Battle, as well as other NH Crossfit Gyms. The many competitions I have done have shown me how differently Crossfit can be shared with those who embark on this journey. While the message is clearly the same gym to gym, the wrapping can be quite different. This will bring more people to Crossfit and that is a good thing. I can say from experience that community is the first priority at every gym I have visited.
Spring is sure to arrive and there is no better way to prepare yourself for the activities of summer than to check out a Crossfit gym. It is a choice that will change your life, as well as your physique. Go on down to Sanel Auto Park and check out Crossfit Ironborn. Its location is a wonderful throwback to the days when the joys of Crossfit were hidden among auto shops and in industrial parks. You will not regret going.
Tell Jon that Barb sent you!
