Thousands Without Power In NH

Update: Wind gusts of up to 57 mph around the Granite State have knocked out power to more than 17,000.

Blustery winds around the state knocked out power to more than 17,000 customers on April 4, 2018, according to utility companies. The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory alert yesterday warning of high winds of up to 25 mph, with gusts reaching as high as 57 mph. The strong wind gusts are expected to last through this morning.

The wind brought downed trees and limbs causing power outages around the state. Most of the heaviest outages are across the southern part of the state.

At 7 a.m. on Thursday, Eversource reported more than 16,000 customers without power including major outages in Windham (2,300), Nashua (1,400), as well as smaller outages in Amherst, Bedford, Londonderry, Merrimack, and Milford.

Unitil reported less than 100 customers without power around Concord and on the Seacoast.

Liberty Utilities is reporting more than 300 customers without power including 56 in Salem.

The New Hampshire Electric Co-Op is also reporting more than 700 customers without power in the Lakes Region, the western part of the state, as well as the southeastern part of the state.
