Tonight's Spa Night Helps Concord Students with Scholarships

5 Things you need to know for April 5, 2013.

  1. Another great spring day in the city. The National Weather Service is predicting that we’ll see partly sunny skies with highs in the mid-50s. It will remain a bit breezy. Overnight lows will drop down into the low 20s.
  2. Parents of blind children seminar. The National Federation of the Blind holds its annual state convention today and tomorrow at the Holiday Inn on North Main Street. The cost is $15 and includes all sessions.
  3. Spa night fundraiser. The Woman’s Club of Concord holds its Baubles & Heels Exchange Scholarship Fundraiser at 4:30 p.m. (rescheduled from March due to snow), at the Chamerlin House on Pleasant Street. Enjoy spa services and assist Concord students. Tickets are $30.
  4. Music tonight. Country-pop artists Krista Angelucci and Skyler play the Concord City Auditorium at 8 p.m. as a fundraiser for the Bishop Brady High School tuition assistance fund. Tickets are $12.50; $10 for students. Over at The Purple Pit, Rico Barr and Wendy Nottonson perform at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10. Acoustisaurus play the True Brew Barista at 8 p.m.
  5. Other stuff. Concord Toastmasters meet at 7 a.m. at the American Red Cross office. Jen holds a Zumba class at the Concord Dance Academy at 5:30 p.m. The NHTI film series at the Sweeney Auditorium continues at 7 p.m. with the showing of “Late Bloomers,” a 2008 Swiss comedy. Tickets are $5. The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center hosts a presentation of four years of photos and data from the Voyager probing the edge of the solar system at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10.
