Trash Can Fire Reported at Concord High School

WATCH: Students were evacuated, fire extinguished; police, firefighters gathered evidence at the scene.

Concord Fire and Rescue teams as well as police were called to a fire in the third floor bathroom at Concord High School on Jan. 11, 2016.

The call came in around 11:20 a.m.

Witnesses reported smoke bellowing from the third floor near the D-wing. Students were evacuated from the building and seen waiting outside the school. The fire was quickly put out before 11:30 a.m. The all-clear was given for students to return to the school at just before 11:40 a.m.

Police were heard on scanner chatter gathering evidence from trash cans that may have been used to set on fire and asking about security cameras in the area in an attempt to find the person or persons responsible.

Firefighters were also ventilating the smoke from the area while a New Hampshire State Trooper also arrived at the scene.

Currently, the east building is closed but lunches and regular school activities have resumed and will continue. Here’s a short video clip from the evacuation.
