Treatment Center Expands, Focuses on Veterans, First Responders

The first phase of Franklin's Farnum Center, which is working to combat heroin epidemic, is now underway.

FRANKLIN, NH - Construction has been completed on a new facility to help 10 clients with substance abuse treatment at the Easter Seals Farnum Center North.

The wing, known as Ray House, after Alex Ray of the Common Man Restaurants helped raise $100,000 for the project, held a ribbon cutting on March 4, 2016, and will begin treating patients on Monday.

The Ray House, which broke ground in September 2015, has 21 available beds. In the next few months, another 42 beds will be licensed for treatment in the Webster House, which is next door.

“We have opened our doors to anyone in need, but we recognize there is a special and significant need to tend to the men and women in uniform who have sacrificed for our country,” said Dr. Cheryl Wilkie, senior VP of Substance Abuse Services at Farnum Center, in a press statement. “We have created a special unit dedicated solely to our veterans and to our first responders. They have given so much to us, and it’s time for us to do what we can to give back to them.”
