Tuesday's Powerball Drawing Offers Projected $1 Billion Jackpot, New Hampshire Lottery Says

CONCORD, NH — Lottery players will have a chance to chase a projected $1 billion Powerball jackpot in Tuesday night’s drawing.

The one-time cash payout is anticipated to be $433.1 million before taxes are withheld.

The lottery said the jackpot would rank as the eighth-largest Powerball jackpot in history. It has been growing since May when two players in Texas and Florida split a $20 million jackpot.

"The Powerball jackpot has ballooned up to $1 billion and ticket sales are showing just how much our Granite Staters love a massive jackpot,” Charlie McIntyre, the executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery, said. “Since Sunday, we have already sold nearly $850,000 in Powerball tickets. As much as I love seeing the jackpot grow, I watch the sales more closely because the more tickets we sell, the more money we return to public education in New Hampshire. Tickets are sold at more than 1,200 retailers across the state and online through NH iLottery, according to the lottery. Players can buy a Powerball ticket until 9:48 p.m. online or 9:50 p.m. in stores on the evening of the drawing.

The lottery said it has contributed more than $3 billion to education in New Hampshire since 1964. Over the past 62 years, it has recorded more than $10 billion in lottery sales and other earnings, with nearly $7 billion paid in prizes and other cost of sales.
