Two Arrested After Fight Downtown
Concord Police arrest Travis Josselyn and Derek Daniels on charges.

Two men will be arraigned in court this week after being arrested after a fight on North Main Street in Concord last month.
Travis Mark Josselyn, 36, of Pleasant Street in Concord, pictured right, was arrested at 1:49 a.m. on Oct. 4, on a simple assault charge. Also arrested was Derek Daniels, 21, pictured left, of Pembroke Street in Pembroke, who was charged with resisting arrest or detention.
According to two arrest reports, officers and a sergeant were called to North Main Street near School Street for a number of individuals who had been in an altercation.

When the sergeant first arrived, he came across a number of people who appeared to have been fighting. He demanded that they stop and get on the ground. One, later identified as Daniels, reportedly began to run from the scene, according to the report. The sergeant yelled at him to stop running and return.
“Daniels hesitated for a moment, turned toward me as I continued to give him commands,” the sergeant reported. “Daniels then turned away, picked up speed, and continued to flee up North Main Street.”

A description was radioed to other officers while the sergeant stayed with the other three men and a woman. One of the men, Josselyn, who had a facial laceration, was separated from the other individuals after he allegedly began yelling at the sergeant and challenging the others to fight. He was told to calm down and reportedly took his shirt off and began pacing around, clenching his fist and pumping his arms. He reportedly smelled like alcohol and was glassy-eyed and “erratic in his thoughts,” so he was put in a cruiser while Concord Fire and Rescue teams assessed his injuries.
The sergeant spoke to the others who stated they were all out with a group of friends when they began having words with Josselyn. They alleged that Josselyn pushed one of the individuals with another individual ending up on the ground with Josselyn in a chokehold, according to the report.
Josselyn was later arrested and will be arraigned on Nov. 10.
Later, an officer was in Eagle Square assisting on another call and reportedly saw Daniels sitting on a pillar. A man came running up to him as the officer began talking to him to see if he was involved in the fight. The men reportedly stated that they saw the fight happening.
“I suspected (that they) were somehow involved,” the officer alleged.
The officer told them both to speak to the sergeant at the scene of the fight in order give him more witness testimony and they reportedly agreed to head to the area. However, after assisting with a DWI arrest, the officer returned to the scene of the fight and spoke with the sergeant about the two individuals he saw earlier that didn’t return to the scene after all.
The officer was able to get access to Daniels’ cellphone number from another person and called him. He reportedly stated he was on Loudon Road and agreed to return to the scene. But after 10 minutes, he didn’t return.
Later, while driving on Loudon Road near the Shell station, the sergeant came across Daniels and another man. The sergeant stopped to speak with them and asked Daniels why he fled. He reportedly stated that he had nothing to do with the fight. When asked again, he reportedly confirmed that he heard the sergeant but wasn’t part of the fight so he left.
Daniels was placed under arrest and allegedly began to protest because his friend wasn’t getting arrested. The sergeant spoke with the other man who stated that once the first started, he left the scene.
During processing, “Daniels was extremely rude, disrespectful, and arrogant,” according to the report.
Daniels will be arraigned on Nov. 10.
