Two Killed in Route 9 Crash

Two elderly New Hampshire residents in an SUV perished after a teen from New York lost control of his SUV and crashed into them.

Two Hillsborough residents were killed last night after a serious near head on collision on Route 9 in Antrim, according to New Hampshire State Police.

Janet Withington, 67, and James Bouchard, 63, both of Hillsborough, passed away at around 6:45 p.m. on Nov. 21, 2015, after a two vehicle crash on the road.

According to the report, New Hampshire state troopers were sent to the accident near the intersection of Route 31. The initial investigation revealed that an 18-year-old from New York was driving west on the road in a Kia Sorrento while Withington was driving east in a RAV 4. Bouchard was a passenger in the RAV 4.

Investigators noted, “In the area just east of Route 31 South the Kia Sorrento lost control, went off the roadway to the right, came back onto the roadway and crossed over the centerline into the eastbound travel lane striking the Toyota RAV 4 in a near head on fashion.”

The teen sustained no injuries; Withington was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon where she succumbed to her injuries. Bouchard perished at the scene.

“At this time it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were factors; however, all aspects of the crash remain under investigation by the C.A.R. Unit,” according to Sgt. Steve Wheeler.

Assisting at the scene were the Antrim Police and Antrim Fire and Rescue teams.
