U.S. Marshals Service Joined Fallen Heroes Honor Run Friday
Marshals were joined by the U.S. Attorney's Office, DEA, National Guard, Nashua police, and Merrimack and Strafford sheriff's deputies.
CONCORD, NH — The U.S. Marshals Service District of New Hampshire participated in the 9th Annual U.S. Marshals Service Fallen Heroes Honor Run Friday.
This nationwide event pays tribute to the brave fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice and were taken from us far too soon. The run is designed to bring communities together and to reflect on the sacrifices of those who have given their all for the safety and wellbeing of others.
This year was particularly difficult for the U.S. Marshals Service, as the losses of Deputy U.S. Marshal Tommy Weeks, and Task Force Officers Sam Poloche, Aiden Elliot, Josh Eyer, and Jesus Varga weigh heavy on our hearts. However, the recent loss of Concord Fire Fighter C.J. Girard was felt strongly in our local community and by many of this year’s participants.

The U.S. Marshals Service welcomes our broader community to come in honor of their loved and lost heroes as we carry their memory of self-sacrifice with us. This year, the District of New Hampshire was joined by members of the United States Attorney’s Office, Drug Enforcement Administration, New Hampshire National Guard, Nashua Police Department, and both Strafford and Merrimack County Sheriff’s Offices. The USMS Fallen Heroes Honor Run is intentionally challenging and designed for participants to reflect on our fallen heroes. Participants who serve as law enforcement officers run in their ballistic vests, an American Flag is carried throughout, and the run occurs regardless of weather.
In conjunction with the national “start time,” the group left the front steps of the Warren B. Rudman U.S. Courthouse at 6 a.m. and proceeded on a 3 mile route through Concord. In solidarity with Concord Fire Department and Girard’s family, the runners stopped at Bennett Funeral Home for a moment of reflection. The run ended at the New Hampshire Law Enforcement Memorial in front of the New Hampshire Legislative Office, and after further reflection on our lost heroes, the event concluded.
