We are planning several events this coming season:
Concord Little League Day at the Fisher Cats - Each player at every level will receive a ticket to a Concord Little League Day at the Fisher Cats home game. Each team will march on the field at Fisher Cats Stadium before the Fisher Cats Game against the Binghamton Mets on Sunday May 18 and then sit together to watch the game. Tickets for parents and siblings will also be available at a discounted price.
Skills Training for Players –We will offer skills training for players at all levels throughout the year. We had tremendous level of interest in our inaugural fall ball program and lots of kids are excited to keep learning baseball skills in a fun, non competitive environment.
Skills Training for Coaches- We want to have a consistent coaching approach as much as possible to insure each player can learn at their pace, but most importantly, enjoy the game of baseball.
Opening Day- All teams will be involved in our opening day ceremony on May 3 at Grappone Park. Not only will we be celebrating 65 years of Little League Baseball in Concord and the 75th Anniversary of Little League Baseball, but we will also be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the opening of Grappone Park. The Grappone Park Dedication Ceremony was held May 18, 1964.
PRACTICE at the FISHER CATS FIELD on May 26 (Monday of Memorial Day Weekend) - all of our Major League teams will be holding a joint practice on the field after a Fisher Cats game at the Fisher Cats Stadium . The practice should start around 4:30 or so, depending on when the game ends. The Fisher Cats will set up the home plate batting cages just like they do for pros. It should be a fun experience!
There’s nothing I enjoy more than watching the Little League World Series tournament on TV each August. I previously coached in a town where a team went to Williamsport (25 years ago) and those players still talk of that experience. Little League is a great experience that your son or daughter will always remember. We aim to make it even better than it has been and we are excited to get started on our 2014 season.
