Previous fugitive caught
On Aug. 15, the task force announced that Dennis Cookish, a former resident of Manchester being sought for violations of conditions of supervised release, after being convicted of fraud and forgery in 2010, was arrested in Worcester, MA.
“Cookish had absconded from supervision and was continuing to commit the criminal offenses of fraud and forgery to finance his time on the run,” White alleged in a press statement. “Cookish has an extensive criminal history dating back to 1974, including fraud, forgery, theft and escape.”
According to White, a task force officer from the Worcester Police Department heard a call dispatched to a 911 hang up at a check cashing business on Main Street across from the federal courthouse. A deputy and an officer responded and saw a man fleeing from the scene.
“Cookish was reportedly inside the check cashing attempting to pass another forged check,” White alleged.
Cookish is being held in the Worcester County Jail and will face charges in Massachusetts before being returned to New Hampshire to deal with the supervised released violations.
