Veterans Group to Candidates: Climate Change is a National Security Threat

CONCORD, NH - At 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, Operation Free, a nationwide coalition of veterans advocating for clean energy, will host a public screening of groundbreaking documentary “The Burden,” at the Red River Theater in Concord.

“The Burden,” is the first documentary of its kind to tell the story of how our dependence on fossil fuels is the greatest long‐term national security threat confronting the U.S. – and how the military is leading our transition away from oil. Watch the trailer.

A discussion with the filmmaker and a veteran and national security expert will follow the film. Pending confirmation, State Rep. Marjorie Shepardson, member of the Science, Technology & Energy Committee, will also make remarks.

The people of New Hampshire have endured months of presidential primary politicking. However, the candidates have mostly ignored a major national security threat, despite the warnings of our military leaders: climate change and oil dependency.

That’s why Operation Free is bringing award-winning short film The Burden to Concord: to make the national security case for clean energy, and hold candidates accountable.
