VT Motorcyclist Seriously Injured After Crash With Deer On I-93

NHSP: The woman was ejected after from her Can-Am on Saturday night in Littleton. The interstate was closed for a number of hours.

CONCORD, NH — A Vermont woman was injured and transported to two hospitals after colliding with a deer while riding a Can-Am Spyder on I-93 North on Saturday night. New Hampshire State Police were sent to a report of a crash in Littleton at just after 8:30 p.m. When they arrived, they learned that a 63-year-old woman from Barnet, VT, had collided with a deer.

“(She) had been operating a 2013 Can-Am Spyder, 3-wheeled, motorcycle northbound on Interstate 93, when a deer ran out in front of Perkins striking the motorcycle,” noted Lt. Gary Prince of Troop F. “As a result of the collision, (the woman) was ejected which resulted in serious injuries.”

The woman was transported to Littleton Regional Hospital and then transferred to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for treatment.

Prince noted that the woman was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision and, while all aspects of the collision remain under investigation, neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors.

I-93 was closed for about 2.5 hours. Assisting at the scene were Littleton police, Littleton firefighters, and Golden Cross Ambulance.
