‘Weak, Late Season’ Nor’easter Hits New Hampshire Early This Memorial Day Weekend

Wind gusts will "lash" the Seacoast and rain will continue through Saturday. But sunny skies return on Sunday and Monday, forecasters say.

Memorial Day Weekend often marks the official gateway to the vacation and summer season in the Granite State, following our ceremonies honoring the fallen. However, for part of the weekend, it will not feel like late spring.

CONCORD, NH — Forecasters are calling for a mixed weather weekend.

Memorial Day Weekend often marks the official gateway to the vacation and summer season in the Granite State, following our ceremonies honoring the fallen. However, for part of the weekend, it will not feel like late spring (or early summer).

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for New Hampshire’s Seacoast Thursday morning, warning of blustery winds and storm surges through Friday morning, as the tail end of a “late season” and “weak” nor’easter moves through the region.

“Building seas will drive a storm surge around the time of high tide (Thursday night),” the alert stated. “While the worst of the storm surge will occur closer to low tide, some splash over is possible around the time of high tide.”

Highs will be in the lower 50s during the day and the lower 40s in the evening. Winds will be in the 5 to 10 mph range for most of the state, with 10 to 15 mph and gusts as high as 25 mph on the Seacoast.
