Forecasters with the National Weather Service also issued a warning to hikers to maybe, unless you’re really prepared, to skip it this weekend.

“This is not the weekend for recreation in the mountains,” a NWS Facebook post said Thursday. “Strong winds and wintry conditions are going to make for dangerous hiking Friday through Saturday without proper gear and experience.”

Next week, there will be an extended period of nicer weather, so “it is worth it to wait,” forecasters said.
