Winter Weather Advisory Alert: Snow And Ice Tuesday And Wednesday Could Impact New Hampshire

The National Weather Service says up to 2 inches of snow, sleet, and ice may cause dangerous travel conditions through 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

CONCORD, NH — The National Weather Service issued a “winter weather advisory” on Tuesday afternoon, warning of a combination of snow and ice that may cause dangerous travel conditions during the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes.

“Light snowfall accumulations are expected as periods of snow impact the region,” the alert stated. “Be prepared for variable travel conditions and slow down when you approach areas of heavier snowfall, as road conditions could change rapidly.”

There will be a period of mixed precipitation with air temperatures remaining below freezing, the alert stated.

“Expect slippery road conditions and avoid travel, if possible,” the alert said. “Even light snowfall amounts can accumulate on roads and cause dangerous driving conditions due to snow-covered roads.”

Total snow accumulation could be up to 2 inches, with sleet accumulations up to a tenth of an inch. Ice accumulations will also be around a tenth of an inch. Ice amounts up to two-tenths of an inch could be possible in southern New Hampshire.

If traveling, “slow down and use caution,” forecasters said.

The heaviest of the precipitation will start between 1 and 4 a.m. on Wednesday and then the snow and freezing rain are expected to change to rain before noon on Wednesday.
