‘Wintry Mayhem’ May Be Returning To New Hampshire
Forecasters are warning of an "ice storm threat," freezing rain, dangerous travel, flooding, and rain turning to snow on Thursday, Friday.

GRAY, ME — Another winter storm is heading to the region bringing unexpected and potentially treacherous driving conditions some forecasters said will be the equivalent of “wintry mayhem.”
The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for New Hampshire warning of showers and freezing rain developing Tuesday and Wednesday. This will lead to some slick driving conditions.

“An Arctic front will drop southward into our region Thursday and Thursday night,” the NWS said. “At the same time, low pressure will approach from the southwest. This may allow for an overrunning precipitation event to take place centered around Thursday night and Friday with significant mixed precipitation possible.”
Forecasters, while not predicting exactly what the conditions would be, said, “confidence is increasing that impactful winter precipitation will occur Thursday night through Friday evening while confidence is low with respect to precipitation amounts and types.”

The NWS long-term forecast shows rain on Thursday turning to a wintry mix during the evening and then snow and sleet on Friday.
AccuWeather.com warned of flooding, slush, and standing water that could potentially freeze during the overnight hours on Thursday, causing travel and flooding issues, hence the wintry mayhem, especially for commuters. The ice storm threat could last 12 to 24 hours.
Forecasters also said most of New Hampshire was expected to get lighter snow totals on Friday, so long as the storm track remains north of Concord.
