Wintry Mix, Gusty Winds Expected In Central, Northern NH

National Weather Service issues winter weather advisory while southern, coastal regions will experience windchill factors through Tuesday.

GRAY, ME — The National Weather Service issued both winter weather advisories and hazardous weather outlooks for different parts of New Hampshire with snow, icy road, and wind warnings Monday. For Patch communities, the conditions are expected to start around 3 p.m. on Monday and last through 7 p.m. Tuesday. Small amounts of snow are expected in Concord and the central part of the state while windchill factors are expected statewide, including the southern and coastal parts of the state, according to the alert.

"Low pressure will track across southern New England and just east of the Maine coast tonight and Tuesday," according to the alert. "This low will bring a round of mainly snow to the northern mountains of New Hampshire and western Maine. Mixed winter precipitation is expected further south with some snow accumulations possible along with a glaze of ice which may make for slippery travel in many areas tonight and Tuesday."

The advisories are active from 5 p.m. today through 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Accumulations of up to 2 inches are expected in the capital region – with as much as 8 inches in the north. Central New Hampshire temperatures will drop down to the lower teens with windchill values of -1 degree.

Forecasters are warning that driving conditions tonight and tomorrow may be difficult.

"Plan on slippery road conditions," the alert stated. "The hazardous conditions are expected to impact travel late this afternoon through Tuesday."

For Hillsborough and Rockingham counties, forecasters are predicting rain and temps today in the 40s but also gusty winds and lower windchill values through Tuesday. Temps are expected to reach the lower teens on Tuesday night, with varying windchill factors. Wind gusts will be as high as 30 miles per hour.
