Woman Maces Man After Being Accosted In Concord’s North End: Watch

A woman reported the incident at Union and Maple streets Thursday night; EMTs treated the man accused of accosting the victim.

CONCORD, NH — Concord police are investigating a possible attack in the North End on Thursday that led to a victim reportedly Macing her attacker.

Around 10:15 p.m., police were sent to a report of a woman accosted around the intersection of Maple and Union streets. A woman in her early 30s said she was attacked by a Black man on an electric scooter. The victim then sprayed the man, who is in his late 40s, with what police described as Mace, and the man fled the scene.

A second woman, in her early 50s, who previously lived in Brattleboro, Vermont, was at the intersection of Centre and North State streets. She was reportedly friends with the man on the scooter and flagged down police to get assistance for him. A third woman, in her late 30s, was also a witness and interviewed by police.

Officers began scouring the area of Maple and Union streets for signs of an attack or the Mace canister. It was found in a recycle bin on North State Street, one officer told dispatch.

A written statement was requested from the man, but he asked to be allowed to go home and submit something later due to his inability to focus because of the Mace. An officer said they would follow up with him later.

After the woman showed police where the attack occurred and where she sprayed the man, police reopened the streets and cleared the scene around 11:30 p.m. She also met with police at headquarters to offer a statement.
