Woman Pleads Guilty to Stealing from Youth League

Michelle Toupin embezzled more than $15,000 from the Merrimack Valley Youth Baseball and Softball League.

A Boscawen woman was in court on Feb. 27, pleading guilty to stealing thousands of dollars from the Merrimack Valley Youth Baseball and Softball League, according to WCVB-TV.

Michelle Toupin, the former treasurer of the organization, admitted to stealing more than $15,000 and will spend six months in jail. She will also pay back about $6,000, on top of the $10,000 family members have already helped her pay back, according to the report.

While crying in court, Toupin apologized for the theft and asked for forgiveness.

League President Eric Crane stated that the theft had left the league with a negative balance and kids without new uniforms this season.

The league serves boys and girls in Penacook, Boscawen, Salisbury, and Webster, as well as softball in Loudon and Babe Ruth baseball in Andover, according to its website.
