Downtown Exeter Shop Reopens After Flood
A Picture's Worth a Thousand Words has been in downtown Exeter for 29 years.
A Picture's Worth a Thousand Words, which closed for repairs after a flood in May, recently reopened.
"We're happy to be back," said owner John Segal, who sells books, paintings, and framing services at his shop.
The flood happened when a pipe burst. It ruined the store's carpet, along with about 600 books and another 50 pieces of art.
A new hickory floor was installed before the shop reopened. Segal got support from Alan Lewis, a customer who owns the Ioka theater next door. Lewis put up a sign promoting the shop's reopening.
"People have been so supportive," said Segal, who has operated his shop for 29 years.
A reopening ceremony featuring food and drinks will be held at the store Sat., Sept. 7.
