Exeter Man Arrested in Salem on Multiple Theft Charges
Police: Anthony Damato was arrested after allegedly fleeing a shoplifting at Walmart.

SALEM, NH — A local man was arrested on theft and other charges yesterday after an incident in Salem, according to police. Anthony Damato, 25, of Allard Street in Exeter, was arrested at 12:59 p.m. on Dec. 19, 2106, on two counts of willful concealment, two counts of theft by unauthorized taking-resale distribution, unregistered vehicle, and misuse/fail to display plates.

Police were sent to Walmart on North Broadway where a loss prevention employee was reporting that a suspect that hit Kohl’s just fled the store, allegedly with several items, according to police. The suspect reportedly fled in a gray Ford Focus. Police later stopped the vehicle on I-93 near Exit 1 southbound and Damato was arrested. He was held on $620 cash bail.

Damato, according to Portsmouth Police, was arrested in that community back in June on three counts of issuing bad checks.
