Mirsky: Advice to Republicans: Choose Marco

On Tuesday, if it's over for Marco Rubio, it's over for the GOP.

Next Tuesday is a big day for Presidential Primaries, there are some big states involved including Florida and Ohio. Republicans need to think carefully here or their Party will be finished.

We’ve been watching these crazy Republican Presidential debates lately. It is a sad sight and one that makes you glad the New Hampshire Primary is long over.

There are only 4 people left in the GOP Presidential contest, and the television political “pundits” (you might call them "nitwits") are calling the race over for New York purported Billionaire/Real Estate Mogul and Inveterate Racist Donald Trump. That would be a great shame for the simple fact that Donald Trump is an idiot.

Listening to Donald Trump speaking on any subject has to be the most painful experience I can think of short of landing in a dentist’s chair to have a tooth pulled with no Novocaine. We have heard endlessly from Trump’s paid television sycophants that Donald Trump is some kind of media genius who has figured out the new way to win a political contest. But there is nothing new about what Donald Trump is doing. He is a bully, he is stupid, he can’t explain any policy, he changes his positions constantly because all he is trying to do is pander to the people who participate in political polling. Donald Trump talks endlessly about how he is ahead and how he is winning, based on the cynical calculation that by repeatedly saying he is a winner, a certain percentage of the population who hear that will either believe it or won't think about it too much and are likely to consider him a "winner". There is nothing of substance behind that.

The real measure of Donald Trump's value as a political figure is how much pain he has caused to the people who are members of the groups that he has targeted. These groups include Latinos, members of the Islamic faith, and women. If you like Trump now, you should be careful, because your group may be next.

Donald Trump is the worst type of dishonest politician there can be: one who will say anything to get elected. For Donald Trump this includes hate speech and remarks about punching people in the face.

This is not good for America.

Now I am supporting Hillary Clinton for President, and I have never been prouder of that, because whatever else you may think about Hillary Clinton, you know she is interested in government and in policy ideas and in making things work.

Donald Trump is just an idiot. Interested only in himself. There just isn’t enough there in Donald Trump for us to be able to take him as our President. He is not a President. He is a worthless buffoon, worth less even than his pal the Ku Klux Klan Leader David Duke. The only difference between Donald Trump and David Duke is that CNN does not allow David Duke spokespeople to pose as political commentators on their news shows.

Yes, I really don’t think too much of Donald Trump.

So who do the Republicans have for a candidate?

There are 3 others: U.S. Senator Ted Cruz from Texas, Governor John Kasich of Ohio, and U.S. Senator Marco Rubio from Florida. Now as a Hillary Clinton supporter I probably shouldn’t say this, but my advice to GOP voters is this: choose Marco Rubio!

It’s an obvious choice.

Rubio is bright, and energetic and optimistic and understands what it is like to be a member of a minority group in the United States. Marco Rubio was the one who explained to Donald Trump in an earlier debate just exactly what the Nuclear Triad is – if you don’t know, that’s the three-pronged nuclear defense system the U.S. has, involving nuclear weapons delivered by missiles launched from nuclear submarines, nuclear weapons delivered from the air by land-based bombers, and nuclear weapons delivered by inter-continental ballistic missiles based on the ground.

In case you think Donald Trump could ever be strong on defense, remember, he does not know what the Triad is.

Donald Trump can’t help us.

I’d go with Rubio.
