Mirsky: President Clinton was in Exeter this Morning . . .

Interesting events at the Exeter polls on NH Primary Day.

I thought I was done writing blog posts on the 2016 New Hampshire Primary this morning, especially after reading the various doctored tracking polls that are out there, saying that our country is about to turn both Socialist (Bernie Sanders) and Fascist (Donald Trump) at the same time. I sure hope not.

Get out there and vote before it’s too late!

So I was getting that usual feeling you have when you’ve been politically active during a campaign in New Hampshire and it’s election day: that “I don’t know what kind of world I’ll be living in tonight when the results come in” feeling, when, at about 7:45 or 8:00 a.m., my wife Joanne exclaimed to me at the Exeter, New Hampshire polling station, at the old Exeter High School gym, she said: “The Secret Service is here, I wonder who’s here?!”

And it was former U.S. President Bill Clinton of Arkansas, actually the most popular former U.S. President and one of the most well known and admired people in the world. So that what quite a thrill and a shock.

Then I saw one of our great Exeter Selectmen, Dan Chartrand (another great Selectman, Don Clement, was inside the voting area overseeing that), who was supervising the matter of President Clinton’s visit, and I asked Dan if I could speak with Bill Clinton. He said yes. (By the way, all of the Exeter Selectmen and Selectwomen are great.)

So then I got my chance to speak with Bill Clinton, and he was very friendly, very self-assured and personable, and we spoke for a brief moment about this election being a 4-quarter football game and that Hillary Clinton will win this in the end. That was great.

President Clinton also liked my Celtics hat. (It’s got the authentic Boston Celtics logo on it.)

By the way, if you haven’t voted yet, please go out there and vote. I am supporting Hillary Clinton this year, for many reasons that I have already expressed in other Exeter Patch articles.

Happy Primary Day!
