So it's the last day of the year, 2024. So this is your intrepid political reporter, Attorney David Mirsky of Exeter, New Hampshire, here to give you a brief sketch of my views on the Most Important political events of 2024, from my little corner of #NHPolitics.

I have a pretty good idea of a bunch of stuff about the political goings on here in our beautiful State. I have lived for many years on the New Hampshire Seacoast, and I have lived and worked in our current capital city of Concord. I have run for political office as both a Democrat and a Republican. I have endorsed for the New Hampshire Primary people from as far "right" as Senator John McCain of Arizona, and as far "left" as New Jersey Senator Cory Booker. So that's all out on the table. Take this commentary for what it is.

Just don't ever forget just how beautiful our surroundings are here in New Hampshire. No wonder all those power mad politicians want to hang out here for a little while before taking that leap into Presidential Primary Combat out there in the rest of the Great Ole U.S. of A.

But I digress.

So I will give this to you straight, in no particular order, but definitely with no sugar-coating. These are the pivotal New Hampshire political events of 2024:

1. First, okay, the Democratic National Committee tried to shut down our precious #NHPrimary, with scheduling shenanigans and threats, but those of us active in such things just seized control of that, and gave our beloved but rapidly-aging President Joe Biden a giant win here, by Write-In Vote no less, which propelled our great and good leader (though still prone to gaffs as ever) back toward the Democratic Nomination for President. I say "toward" because he was stopped in his tracks, as all Democratic voters were this year, by the Powers-That-Be in the media world and money world, and, let's face it, in Hollywood, California. Those "experts" stole the nomination away from the People, and allowed former U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to decide the whole thing all by herself, doing this on the purported basis of Joe Biden's age. But all these experts and moneyed folk neglected to realize one very important fact: Nancy Pelosi is even Older than Joe, and couldn't see past her own home town of San Francisco when inappropriately and undemocratically choosing Joe's fledgling successor. So that was a big mistake. Biggest political blunder of the year, in my estimation.

2. Most important political moment in the 2024 race for Governor of New Hampshire: When our Governor-Elect, former U.S. Senator and former New Hampshire Attorney General Kelly Ayotte pointed out, as a kind of political translator into English, that what her Democratic opponent was really saying at those TV discussions on WMUR-TV, words to the effect that, "What she just told you is that she will raise your taxes." And that was the end of that contest.

Will they never learn? The answer to the question of the typical New Hampshire voter to the question, "Do you want your government to provide you with more good stuff but at the cost of higher taxes?" is a resounding NO. New Hampshire voters do not want ANY "improvements" to our beautiful, beloved State that would make it too expensive to actually keep living here!

3. Lastly, and I must wrap this up right now, because, like everybody else in this State, I need to get to work at my real job in order to stay afloat economically, I have just one other thing to say to my fellow Dems, both here and across the country: You should have allowed the People to at least choose Joe Biden's successor Nominee for 2024, and if you all had done that, if you had permitted us to have a real Primary Election where the candidates go out and answer the voters' questions, I for one would have chosen Mayor Pete. People in New Hampshire politics know exactly who I am talking about. Mayor Pete is a guy who served his country in the U.S. Military, something we in New Hampshire on all sides of the political spectrum truly value.

So keep that in mind for 2028. I know it's just my opinion. But there it is.

Happy New Year everybody!
