Alleged Credit Union Robber, Carjacker Along with Accomplice Caught

Michael Munroe and Rebecca Norton were arrested Saturday morning in Hancock.

HANCOCK, NH - A New Hampshire man who was a suspect in a Massachusetts carjacking, an attempted carjacking, and a credit union robbery this week has been arrested.

Michael Munroe of Raymond, wanted in a carjacking in Tewksbury, an attempted carjacking in Reading, and for robbing a bank in New Hampshire during the span of three days was arrested Saturday in Hancock. Munroe was named as a person of interest in all three cases. Police also arrested Rebecca Norton, 29, of Raymond.

Munroe was being sought by Reading MA Police for an attempted carjacking in the Home Goods parking lot on March 31, 2016. As Reading police continued the search, Tewksbury MA Police released information that Munroe was a suspect in a carjacking at the Dress Barn in that town on March 30. Yesterday, police believed that Munroe reportedly crossed back intoNew Hampshire and now is a suspect in a credit union robbery on Lafayette Road/Route 1 near the Seabrook Town Hall. That robbery occurred at 10:50 a.m. on April 1, 2016.

During the course of the investigation, police learned that Munroe may be getting assistance from his girlfriend, Norton, and published information about her in an attempt to local Munroe. Yesterday afternoon, they both eluded police in Salisbury, MA, according to posts on social media.

Just after the arrest this morning, Lt. Brian O'Keefe of the Manchester Police Department stated that Munroe would also be charged after alleged March 27 carjacking in Manchester, involving a knife. More information about that case will be released on Monday, he said.
