Barbara Lawless

Rational Taxpayers of Hampton supports Barbara Lawless for the Hampton School Board. We have known Barbara for years and find her a dedicated grandparent with a child in the school system with special needs. That has given her a unique perspective on how the system deals with individual education plans, issues of bullying and seeing that the rights of her grandchild and other special needs students are met.  In that regard she has become impressed with the way that the Hampton School System has addressed these issues under the leadership of Kathleen Murphy and is an advocate for the Hampton Schools. Barbara is an educated resident who has lived in our community for many years and is a logical thinker and has no agenda other than to see that the Hampton school children get the best education they can. We have talked to her and find her interests are aligned with all parents in our community. To us she is an easy choice.

We were more than shocked that Andrea Sheppard opted to run for office after being terminated for cause.  We realize that her retirement was couched in legalese but stripping away the refinements she was terminated, so the question begs why run, other than to get even with those who were responsible for severing her relationship with the school system. We cannot accept her as a meaningful candidate and would hope the Hampton voters feel the same way.
