The Wonderful World of Bats!

Join us on Thursday, July 12, 2012, 3:30 PM at the East Kingston Public Library, 47 Maplevale Road, East Kingston, NH to learn about BATS!

Presenter Jerry Schneider, takes a brief look at old scary stories about bats and introduces audience to local & tropical bats.  Via interactive dialogue, amazing slides, and taped bet calls, we move beyond old stereotypes to understand the vital importance of bats in our environment.  We learn how bats control harmful insect populations, pollinate night blooming flowers, and disperse seeds  We learn about bats in our attics, bat houses, vampire bats, migration and hibernation, and echolocation.  See vivid slide photos of our Big Brown Bat, the Silver Haired Bat, and the Desert Red Bat.  Listen to bat calls, made audible by a bat detector.  Eyes light up at such phenomenal creatures as Townsend’s Big Eared Bat and the Pallid Bat.

The program ends with a chance for kids to make their own amazing bat tee shirts (heavy cotton white shirts may be purchased for $4.00, or kids may bring their own).
