'The Finest Hours' Talk on Nov. 3

Hear about The Finest Hours and its transformation into a Disney movie

Michael Tougias, the author of The Finest Hours (with co-author Casey Sherman) is speaking at the library in Hampton Falls at 7pm on Monday Nov. 3 about his book that is currently being filmed by Disney and will star Chris Pine (Star Trek), Casey Affleck (Gone Baby Gone) and Graham McTavish (The Hobbit). In fact, the author even tried out for a role!
The Finest Hours (Simon&Schuster) is a story about the Coast Guard’s greatest rescue. In a raging nor’easter in the winter of 1952, two tanker ships made of “dirty steel” broke apart off Cape Cod. Coast Guardsmen from Chatham volunteered to attempt a rescue, crossing dangerously violent waves on the Chatham Bar that knocked out most of their navigational equipment. Come hear Tougias recount the death-defying rescue with photos from the event, and you’ll be on the edge of your seat.
