Popular Burger Chain to Expand Along Seacoast

The owner of a newly-opened Dover restaurant has plans to bring two to the southern Seacoast area.

The owner of the newly-opened Five Guys Burgers and Fries franchise in Dover has plans to bring the popular chain to Portsmouth and Seabrook by spring 2013, according to a story by the Portsmouth Herald.

The paper reported Wednesday on its website, SeacoastOnline.com, that Cort Mendes — who owns Five Guys franchises in Dover, Derry, Keene, Manchester and Nashua — is eyeing the former Yoken's lot on Lafayette Road in Portsmouth and would also like to bring the eatery to Seabrook.

Mendes told the Herald that the Dover location created 50 jobs in the Garrison City, and reportedly said he expects to hire another 50 employees for the Portsmouth and Seabrook franchises when they open. Mendes also reportedly said he is interested in opening Five Guys restaurants in other New Hampshire municipalities.
