Five Things: Restaurant Week Continues

A new movie theater is also opening nearby.

1. Restaurant Week: Restaurant Week for Portsmouth and the Seacoast started Thursday, and runs through Nov. 17. More than 50 Seacoast area restaurants will offer menus featuring special 3-course prix fixe menus: lunch $16.95 per person, dinner $29.95 per person. Participating Hampton restaurants include The 401 Tavern and The Galley Hatch.

2. Sunday is Veterans Day: On Sunday at 8 a.m., a Veterans Day ceremony will be held at the Hampton Beach War Memorial. Then at 9 a.m., North Hampton will hold its ceremony at the North Hampton Town Library. At 10 a.m., a ceremony will be held at Hampton American Legion Post 35 at 69 High St. in Hampton. And at noon, a new monument in Hampton Falls honoring New Hampshire veterans who served from April 30, 1975 to Sept. 11, 2001 will be dedicated.

3. New Movie Theater Opens Today: It's not in Hampton, but a new O'Neil Cinemas location opens today in Brickyard Square in Epping, which is only a short drive away on Route 101.

4. This Day in History: On this day in 1938, in an event that would foreshadow the Holocaust, German Nazis launched a campaign of terror against Jewish people and their homes and businesses in Germany and Austria. The violence, which continued through Nov. 10, was later dubbed "Kristallnacht," or "Night of Broken Glass," after the countless windows of Jewish-owned establishments.
