The Gulf of Maine Council will hosts its Marine Environment Awards ceremony on June 17.

Individuals, non-profits, municipalities, and businesses will be among those recognized for their work in coastal environmental protection within the states of New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts as well as over the Canadian border in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

Award winners from New Hampshire include The Nature Conservancy’s Oyster Conservationist Program, a program that enables local volunteers to raise oysters on private docks or moorings to help restore native oysters in the Great Bay Estuary, and the city of Portsmouth for its commitment to integrating sustainability throughout municipal governance, management and public services.
