Help Set a State Record While Raising Money for a Great Cause

A local teen is aiming to set a record at a Hampton Beach hotel while raising money for a $16K community fitness project.

As part of a fundraising event that really captures the spirit of what the money will be used for, Hampton teen Jason Broad will try to set a record next week for the largest exercise class ever held in New Hampshire.

Broad is an Eagle Scout candidate attempting to raise $16,000 to install a six-station circuit training course along the Marston School Community Walking Path. The project has been heralded as the "largest undertaking" by a Seacoast Eagle Scout, and the exercise record is one of several creative fundraising ideas Broad has for hitting his fundraising goal.

The all-ages exercise class, taught by professional instructors from Fitness Revolution, will be held at the Ashworth By the Sea Hotel from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, for a suggested donation of $10 per person.

"I am passionate about [the training course] because being fit and healthy has been a big part of my life and I wanted to share this others," Broad previously told Hampton-North Hampton Patch. "This would be a great addition to the walking path and it can be used by the everyone in the community free of charge."

There currently is no official record, although Broad's class does have full support from the state, officials from which will be on hand to tally the record, according to Lindsey Broad, Jason's father.
