Hampton Police Arrest ‘Several’ People After Unruly Friday Night

"Large groups" that formed on the beach were dispersed — but that was only the beginning of the problems.

HAMPTON, NH — Police and Rockingham County Sheriffs had a busy evening Friday breaking up fights and moving disruptive people along.

According to a Facebook post, police dealt with “a number of large groups” that formed on the beach. The groups were dispersed after cops observed a number of fights breaking out between attendees. But after breaking up the crowds, things got worse.

“Upon dispersal, these groups made their way to the roadway and continued to be disorderly and disrupt traffic on Ocean Boulevard,” police said. “Additional police units were requested through Rockingham County. These groups were eventually dispersed.”

Several arrests were made throughout the day and during the dispersal for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and alcohol offenses. No injuries or property damages were reported, police said.

“We want people to enjoy the beach,” the post said. “Those wishing to cause violence and disruptions will be prosecuted.”
