Hampton School Officials Thank Voters For Approving Articles
Voters approved SAU 90 proposals like maintenance for schools, the operating budget, and educator raises, too, by wide margins.

HAMPTON, NH — School officials in Hampton thanked voters on Friday for approving budgets and proposals during the town election on Tuesday.
Each of the proposals, sponsored by the school board, passed by margins of 60 percent or more. Voters approved maintenance at the Marston and Centre School buildings and grounds, child benefits services at Sacred Heart School, and a fully-funded operating budget for the coming fiscal year. Collective bargaining agreements with educators and others were also approved.
"I extend a sincere thanks to our voters for showing their commitment to our education system," Superintendent Lois Costa said. "As a district, we strive to create the best possible learning environment for students. Approving these contracts will support us in attracting and retaining talented educators and to continue to make the Hampton School District a desirable place to work."

The new union contracts will begin in July. The agreements, officials said, offer salary increases to make the rate paid to teachers and paraprofessionals comparable to neighboring communities.
Les Shepard, the chairman of the school board, said officials were grateful for the overwhelming support at the polls.
