Smuttynose Brewing Co.'s new production facility at Towle Farm is still about four months away from opening, and the brew pub likely won't open until 2014.
But you don't have to wait until then to have a beer at the Hampton site.
In a message posted on its Facebook page on Thursday night, Smuttynose asked its followers to join them for a beer at the Towle Farm location on Friday at 4 p.m.
"What are you doing tomorrow at 4 pm?" the message read. "Join us for a beer at Towle Farm from 4 until empty. Bring your ID, park along the side of the road and look out for cars. #happyfriday"
Smuttynose spokesman JT Thompson said the idea was to do something small and informal to build a connection between the site and local residents.
"It's meant to be a really informal social gathering," he said. "It's going to be a hangout in a partially paved parking lot. It's pretty low key."
Thompson said he's not sure how long the event will last. There will just be a couple of kegs of beer, and once they're empty, it will be over.
"If a ton of people show up, it might be a half hour," he said. "It'll be interesting."
Thompson also provided a brief update Friday on construction at the site, saying that production is still expected to start in November, but the brew pub probably won't open until early 2014.
