Hockey, Girls' Basketball Fall; Boys' Basketball Rallies

Here's a recap of some recent Winnacunnet Warriors action.

The Winnacunnet High School boys' basketball team scored 30 points in the fourth quarter to knock off Pinkerton Academy in their season opener, although the girls' basketball and boys' hockey teams weren't as fortunate in their recent games.

The boys' basketball team, led by senior Ben Gareau's 17 points, beat Pinkerton 66-58 on Friday to open their season 1-0 thanks to a frenetic style of play that overwhelmed the Astros (0-1), according to the Hampton Union.

The girls' basketball team also faced Pinkerton on Friday, but couldn't recover from falling behind quickly in the first quarter by a score of 18-4, according to the team's MaxPreps.com page. The Astros (3-0) defeated the Warriors (1-2) 67-38 despite much closer play during the final three quarters.
