Lamprey to Invest $100K into New Library Project

North Hampton Public Library and Cultural Center Foundation made the announcement about the gift this week.

The North Hampton Public Library and Cultural Center Foundation announced this week that they have received a leadership investment of $100,000 for their Capital Campaign, according to a press statement.

“Josephine Lamprey has expressed her intent to invest $100,000 in the new library,” according to Jenny Marshall, co-chairwoman of the Capital Campaign Committee. “It is an extraordinarily generous gift and is especially exciting as it comes just one week before the people of North Hampton vote on our new town campus.”

Known around the Seacoast for her commitment to local causes, Lamprey is a long-time resident of North Hampton and a descendant of one of the original families who settled the town.

“I feel deeply connected to North Hampton and its heritage and I’m a firm supporter of the new town campus,” said Lamprey. “North Hampton needs a town campus that we can all be proud of. We deserve a library and cultural center that honors our past, embraces technology, and supports life-long learning and community involvement. The North Hampton Public Library serves the citizens of our town without prejudice or bias. The staff does an extraordinary job with limited resources and a lack of space, but they will be able to do so much more with this new library. The time has surely come for us to create a library that honors the past, present, and future of our town.”

Kelly Parrott, chair of the Library Trustees, remarked, “In addition to Ms. Lamprey’s extremely generous investment in the new library, her leadership, experience, and vision has propelled our Foundation forward.”

Lamprey is also serving as the Capital Campaign Committee’s honorary co-chairwoman.

In accepting Lamprey’s intent to give, Marshall said, “This investment has made a huge difference to our campaign. We have set a campaign goal of $1.2 million – enough to cover our share of the library construction costs. For most of this year our campaign has been focused on building our foundation leadership committee and establishing our non-profit status. As we approach the election next Tuesday, we’re thrilled to announce that we have over $450,000 committed from more than 80 individuals and organizations. Most of those funds have been raised since the beginning of the year – it’s a clear message of support for the new Library and Cultural Center.”

The North Hampton Public Library and Cultural Center Foundation is incorporated as a New Hampshire non-profit organization and has recently received its 501(c)(3) status.
