Local Man Wins Healthcare Innovation Award

Mike Muldoon's strides to improve healthcare through technology have secured him another award.

Mike Muldoon, a Hampton physical therapist who with his wife created two game-like smartphone apps that have garnered him awards and praise for their revolutionary approach to healthcare, was recently named a "Heath Care Innovator" as part of the Vital Vertical Ventures Competition.

The competition — sponsored by the Borealis Granite Fund, a $30 million investment fund focused on New Hampshire-based, early stage technology companies — selected six individuals as "disruptivators" helping lead the way in innovation in the Granite State.

Muldoon, of Interactive Medical Productions in Hampton, got to present his balance and range-of-motion measurement apps, Ustabilize and GetMyROM, at the Oct. 9 "Disruptivate! Goes Vertical" conference at the Wentworth By The Sea Resort in New Castle as part of the award.

The conference is "a semi-annual celebration of ideas, people, companies, or entities that challenge existing limits, ask questions, defy expectations, and fundamentally disrupt the status quo," according to its website, which also stated that other speakers included Google's Matt Dunne, University of New Hampshire President Mark Huddleston, many venture capitalists, and more.

Muldoon is fresh off a strong finish in another competition, and he said he's in the process of making revisions to Ustabilize and GetMyROM, in addition to developing "a new product."
