A trooper this morning working for the New Hampshire State Police Special Enforcement Unit was monitoring traffic from a state police aircraft when he allegedly noticed “a vehicle traveling at an extremely high rate of speed,” according to Capt. Christopher Vetter for the NHSP.

The vehicle – later identified as a 2015 Hyundai Sonata – was reportedly clocked at 109 mph in a 65 zone. The trooper in the air radioed troopers on the ground and the Hyundai was stopped in Hampton.

“(A sergeant) made contact with Savoury,” Vetter alleged. “When asked why he was traveling at that speed, Savoury stated that he was a driver trying to get a client to a location.”

Savoury was then arrested. He’s due in Seabrook District Court on June 15.

“The NH State Police Special Enforcement Unit regularly interdicts elevated speed violations and other aggressive driving behaviors,” Lt. Sean Haggerty of the NHSP added in the statement. “Its members patrol across the state often utilizing the state police aircraft during commuter traffic periods and holiday travel times with the goal of keeping New Hampshire’s roadways safe for all residents and visitors.”
