Olympic Medalist to Serve as Celebrity Bartender at Community Oven
Scotty Lago will serve as a guest bartender at a fundraiser for Myla Gott tonight.

1. Today's Top Thing: Professional snowboarder and Olympic bronze medalist Scotty Lago will be the celebrity bartender at the Community Oven on Monday night. He'll be mixing drinks from 5 to 9 p.m. to raise money to help pay for Myla Gott's hyperbaric oxygen therapy. It's all part of the restaurant's "Community Mondays" fundraising effort. Gott, 22, of North Hampton, suffered traumatic brain injuries in a severe January 2009 crash. You can also donate to Myla Gott at the Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment Center, 1395 N. Main St, Randolph, MA, 02368 or to Gott Recovery at The Provident Bank, 321 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842. Donations can be made payable to Gott Recovery.

This Day in History: On this day in 1885, the dismantled State of Liberty, a gift of friendship from the people of France to the people of America, arrived in New York Harbor after being shipped across the Atlantic Ocean in 350 individual pieces packed in more than 200 cases. The copper and iron statue, which was reassembled and dedicated the following year in a ceremony presided over by U.S. President Grover Cleveland, became known around the world as an enduring symbol of freedom and democracy.
