Report: Pickup Truck Theft Suspect Was Shot Three Times

NH AG: Barry Jones of Portsmouth was shot and killed in Hampton on Tuesday due to three gunshot wounds by state troopers.

CONCORD, NH — The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office has released the autopsy results of a man who reportedly stole a pickup truck in Portsmouth and was shot and killed by state troopers at the New Hampshire State Liquor and Wine Outlet on the southbound side of I-95 in Hampton. Barry Jones, 36, died of three gunshot wounds – two to his torso and one to his left shoulder, according to the autopsy. The manner of death was ruled a homicide which is defined as the killing of one person by another, according to Benjamin J. Agati, a senior assistant attorney general.

Agati stated that the incident was still under investigation and more information would be released after the officers had been formally interviewed by investigators.

Jones was shot around 12:30 p.m. on June 13, 2017, after state troopers spotted a stolen pickup truck from Portsmouth in the parking lot of the liquor store. Reports alleged that Jones stole the truck in an effort to get to Lawrence, MA, to buy drugs.
