Stiles Won't Seek Re-Election

Hampton's state Senator calls decision a "bittersweet moment."

CONCORD, NH - State Sen. Nancy Stiles, R-Hampton, after six terms, has decided not to seek re-election, according to a statement.

Stiles said the decision was "a bittersweet moment for me" because she was "proud of the work I’ve done throughout my career in public service." The decision will allow her to spend more time with her husband - "one constituent who has waited a long time for my full attention" - as well as their children and their families.

"I have accomplished many of the goals I set out for in for my communities, focusing on education and health related issues specifically," she said. "I’ve fought all along in support of adequate education funding for students in New Hampshire. In the current budget, the state removes the cap on education adequacy funding for the next academic year, which I believe is one step toward supporting each student's opportunity for an excellent education. Constituent service has also been a critical part of my role in the Legislature and it has always been a pleasure to serve the seacoast communities I call home. I am thankful both for all of the gracious support I have received over the years and for the many, lasting relationships I have made within the community I serve, both before and after re-districting.”
